BALANCE
Learning how to have balance in your life is very important. This includes learning to nourish your body by eating a balanced whole food diet and exercising daily, and doing things to nourish your soul by doing things that bring you joy, meditating and occasionally allowing yourself to just be.
Learning to eat the right amount of a varied, nutritious and minimally processed diet that you enjoy and are happy to follow most of the time is one of the most impactful habits you can adopt for good health. No one food plan is magical and no specific food must be included or avoided.
Some general principles are understood about how to eat for good health. The mainstay is to eat lots of vegetables, protein from a variety of sources, minimally processed carbohydrates and a dash of good oils. Preferably these foods are grown and sourced locally and we eat when the food is in season wherever relevant. There can be quite a lot of flexibility to fit cultural ways of eating, spare animal cruelty, support our planet by putting less strain on the environment as well as eating food that our body tolerates to help us feel refueled and energised. Some of us may come to realise that we may not feel that great after eating certain foods and we would do best to minimise our consumption of these foods or even to avoid them as much as possible.
