WHO do we SUPPORT?

Sammunat Nepal

We support and encourage the lovely ladies of Sammunat Nepal, an NGO in Eastern Nepal. These women have found their way to the Sammunat Community and are learning how to be independent, provide for their children and learn new skills that provide employment opportunities and education.  They have learnt how to make clay jewellery in many shapes and sizes that are worn all over the world.  Become a Warrior and wear your Warrior Bracelet to show your support.

Venezuela

The situation in Venezuela has been deteriorating for many years. The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimate that more than 4.5 million Venezuelans are now living overseas (Nov 2019). The exodus due to violence, insecurity and threats, lack of food, medicine and essential services has intensified in the past few months with many citizens now in neighbouring South American countries. While they may be safer, they are often unable to work in the new country and thus have little or no money as their Venezuelan money is now worthless.

A proportion of the profits generated from the Warriors Own Wellness website will go to support displaced Venezuelans as well as looking for opportunities for them.

Australian Bushfires 2019/2020

Many of us have been touched either directly or indirectly by the devastating bushfires that ravaged the eastern parts of the Australian countryside this summer before some  torrential rain effectively put all these fires out. Australia, and indeed the World, have rallied around many of the communities that were directly affected and a large amount has been raised on many fronts. Two particular fund-raising efforts which we would like to highlight are the following:

Spend With Them is an Instagram account set up to help you buy direct from clothing labels, surf shops, farms and more from businesses in fire-ravaged areas. This is even more important now that we are generally in isolation and unable to physically visit and support these areas. When the immediate crises subside, residents in these areas will only be beginning to rebuild their lives, businesses and communities. Supporting local and small businesses in these communities can help them bounce back now and keep afloat later on. Spend With Them simply promotes ventures that need help and directs people to websites where they can make direct purchases.

Wollemi Wildlife Food Fund raises money to purchase food for the wildlife that survived the fires around the Hawkesbury LGA near Colo until the bush regenerates.

Charity Walking Events

The Warrior Queen and Dr Tobermory took part in the 7 Bridges Walk in Sydney in October 2019 (www.7bridgeswalk.com.au) to raise money for Cancer Council.

We will post our next event here when we are able to resume group activities again.  If you would like to walk with us as part of the Warriors Own Wellness Team, please contact us at warriorsownwellness@gmail.com

Other Worthwhile Causes

There are many worthwhile causes in our communities. In the spirit of performing Random Acts of Kindness (Wellness Habit 1), we want to raise awareness about causes that are dear to Warrior hearts. The cause that we are highlighting this month is the
